The Campground is also home to "The Restaurant" at "The Harbor". It is open to guests as well as the public year-round. | From the Market Place Review, February 14, 2002 |
I'd like to introduce you to a little restaurant that we happened to stumble on. It is called "The Restaurant" at "The Harbor." This is one of the neatest, down to earth places to eat that I have ever found, and you know I try hard not to have to cook.
The Restaurant is located on Highway 32 in Three Lakes, don't stop reading here, it is well worth the drive and I have had friends from Rhinelander that will attest to that.
The dining room is made up of 4 rooms of remodeled living quarters. Seating capacity is roughly 44 persons. There is a wood burner in the corner, an area complete with TV, mounted fish and it says "Home" from the front door on.
Dennis McCluskey along with his two boys made Three Lakes their home early last summer. In addition to the 120 campsites,
for tents and trailers, they have expanded the restaurant area and are serving great homemade meals.
Dennis is a professional chef and has worked in the Chicago area and in Texas. You don't have to second guess the cook when you order a steak here. Medium is medium and medium-well is medium-well. No questions asked. After fighting the rat race they both decided to try something with a quieter pace.
They have a wonderful Friday Fish Fry with homemade clam chowder soup, "Duchess Potatoes" (twice baked without the skins), or french fries. Saturdays and Sundays they are open for breakfast with biscuits and gravy, Mom's french toast, and other surprises.
You'll feel at home as the entire family waits on you, Dennis will step out of the kitchen to see how everything is and if you are really lucky he will have a special dessert for you.
My family and I have been to the Restaurant on numerous occasions, and the food is always great; the service is always friendly and the prices reasonable.
The drive is always enjoyable, and it really isn't that far away.
